League Div 5 Rd 7

Summerhill traveled to Moylagh on a wet and damp  Sunday morning for the 7th round of the League division 5 game. In what turned out to be a very competitive match the visitors left without the points after a frustrating conclusion to the game.

Summerhill had the better of the first half leading 0-8 to 0-3 at the break. The Stephen Husband managed home side had the better of the exchanges in the second half and led by a point with time almost up. A Conor Summerville point equalized for the visitors on the stroke of full time and a draw looked the likely outcome but they was a lot more drama to come.  The home side broke forward and were awarded a free which they duely converted to retake the lead. Summerhill push for the equalizer as the game entered the 35th minute of the half and rewarded when Darragh Tormey fired to the back of the net to restore their lead. However the drama was not over. The game continued on till the 40th minute when the home side were awarded a penalty. A high ball dropped into the square was well fielded by Connie McGrath but instead of been awarded a defensive mark or a free out he was penalised for over carrying. To add to the drama the resulting penalty hit the bar but an in rushing Moylagh forward finished to the net to restore Moylagh’s lead. On the resulting kickout, in the 41st minute of the half, the referee blew for full time. In a 2nd half that have little on no stoppages the Summerhill team were left frustrated and bewildered as to where over 10 minutes of added time had come from.
