Summerhill made the short journey to Enfield on Saturday afternoon to take on neighbours Na Fianna in the A-League Division 1. It was a cool bright afternoon with a strong breeze blowing towards the town end. Na Fianna played with a the breeze in the first half but it was Summerhill who got off to the perfect start when a well worked move, direct from the throw in, saw Kevin Ryan play in Padraigh Geraghty who fired to the net within 30 seconds of the start. Exchange were fairly even for the rest of the half with Summerhill leading at the break by 1-3 to 0-5.
Na Fianna’s play improved in the 2nd half despite playing into the strong breeze but resolute Summerhill defending limited their scoring opportunities. At the other end Summerhill were also finding scores hard to come by. Na Fianna’s tails were up when they scored a goal to lead by a point with 10 minutes remaining. This goal seemed to stir Summerhill into life and they tagged on 2-2 with out reply to run out winners on a score line of 3-7 to 1-6. Summerhill’s goals coming from Kevin Ryan and Jack Bannon. Next up for Summerhill is a home game versus Ballinabrackey in 2 week.
