U14 League

Venue; Slane GFC
Summerhill u14s came away with the spoils in this difficult away fixture on Thursday night. Played in torrential rain for the most part and with the daylight receding fast the young guns made light of the awful conditions to lead from the throw-in. Captain for the day Kian Hussey and Adam Larkin led the team from midfield and set up many of the attacks and contributing valuable scores, ably helped by Ben Farrell, who gave a wonderful display of attacking wing back play to score the first point of the evening. Harry Ryan(2), Luke Moran and Conor Summerville also added points to reach the break leading by 3 points.
The second half was a tough, tight and tense affair with the Slane boys gaining the upper hand for a period but, crucially, never getting the lead. The seige on the Hill goal was lifted time and again with great handling by keeper Conor Ryan and his steely rearguard of Adam Byrne, Gavan McVann and Donal Matthews. Jamie Ryan- Meegan also found himself plugging the the gaps, as well as contributing to the scoreboard.. Jack Brennan, young Adam Mac, Kevin Mulligan and Darren 'Chappers' Chapman kept Summerhill on top to the end by never holding back in the physical stakes when the game was finely balanced in the closing stages.
Next game Thursday 23rd v Duleek-Bellewstown in Summerhill 7pm.
