Summerhill easily defeated Dunsany in this Intermediate Championship match, putting Dunsany into a relegation playoff.
Summerhill captain Ann-Marie Fagan led the way with an inspirational point in the first minute. This was swiftly followed by a good point by the lively wing forward Niamh Crowe.
Ciara Daly was in outstanding form in midfield and scored a super point to keep Summerhill in front. County star Jenny Rispin was giving the Dunsany defence a torrid time and scored two great goals. Julianne Scanlon and Olivia Comey also chipped in with two goals as Summerhill built up a sizable first half lead.
Dunsany got a glimmer of hope as they scored a penalty and point. Their low scoring was mainly due to the excellent defending of Ciara Kennedy, Clodagh Gillespie, Clare Carton and goalkeeper Louise Magee.
In the forward-line Ann-Marie O'Brien, Crowe and Rispin were linking up well and Rebecca Payne got amongst the scorers with a well taken point. Jenny Rispin scored a pointed free to give Summerhill a comfortable first-half lead.
Summerhill started the second-half as they finished the first. Olivia Comey scored a cracking goal into the top corner and Julianne Scanlon scored her second goal of the game. Ann-Marie O'Brien was always a threat and scored her third point of the game.
Jenny Rispin, Rebecca Payne, Olivia Comey and substitute Andrea Pearle all scored good points to keep Summerhill in a dominating lead. Niamh Crowe scored the last goal as Summerhill didn't take their foot off the pedal until the final whistle.
Summerhill had outstanding performances from all 20 players used, especially Ciara Kennedy, Ann-Marie Fagan, Ciara Daly and Olivia Comey. Summerhill had narrowly missed out on a Semi-Final place after two one-point defeats earlier in the season but they finish the year on a positive note.
